Page width

You can define the width of the page in different measures. Quite common are pixels and percentages. For example a setting of "80%" renders the content of the page 80% of the browser window wide; "600px" would render it 600 pixels.

Please notice that the width of the navigation needs to be substracted from the overall width should the navigation be left or right. This means that if you define 600 pixels and the navigation is 200px wide the overall content usable for text display would be 400 pixels.

Font size

Fonts can be defined in various measures. They can be defined as a percentage of your standard browser setting (f.e. 80%), in "em"s, which are defined as the font size of your browser (1.2em), as points (12pt) or as pixels (14px). Some browsers are not able to resize pixels. Another option is to use a word for the size of the font ranging from xx-small to xx-large. More information about font size can be found at htmlhelp.com.

Colours

You can define colours in HTML in different measures. All but the named colours include the three values of the colour (red, green and blue) in different formats.

Examples:

The lower each of these values, the darker the colour will be.
